This is a new subject I will be addressing. I worked in Safety for approximately 13 years. As such, I have seen many accidents that were preventable. Working in the Safety field, I became much more aware of safety in my own home. Teaching my children about what to avoid was primary on my list. Safety should be an integral part of your family life too.

Here are some of the statistics according to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) you may
find alarming from their 2009 Fire Loss Report:
Beware of your cooking equipment in the kitchen. Fact: Unattended equipment is the leading cause of cooking fires.
Another fact is that 260 civilian deaths were due to highway vehicle fires.
Smoke alarms, heat detectors, automatic sprinkler systems, and fire extinquishers all work in reducing or putting out a fire in your home.
Get a fire extinguisher for your vehicle, boat, furnace area, recreational vehicle, or attic.
